The 62nd Red Banner Rocket Division (military unit 32441) is a formation of the 33rd Guards Rocket Army, Russian Strategic Rocket Forces, which is located in the area of the Closed city Uzhur, in Krasnoyarsk Krai.
The division deployed in the base of the operational group formed by the directive of the General Staff of the Strategic Rocket Forces 24 July 1964. Forming the group was entrusted to Colonel Kuts Basil Trofimovich. On 12 June 1964, the unit was handed its battle flag, and on 8 September 1964, the first divisional commander, Colonel Peter M. Prikhodko arrived and assumed his duties as commander. In November 1964, the first military builders arrived.
Over the years the division has been commanded by Major-General: SI Ryzleytsev, N. Kotlovtsev, VS Sedykh, EI Smelik, A. Martynenko, VI Ascheulov, AA Shvaychenko , SP Solohin, AD Sivach. At this time, the division commander was Colonel Yuri, who was promoted from military service to 62 missile division commander of the Strategic Missile Forces.
The division is equipped with the stationary type R-36M, R-36UTTH, and R-36M2 intercontinental ballistic missiles. These weapons have the NATO classification SS-18 'Satan.'
